The White Lion Inn Marsworth

The White Lion Inn at Marsworth, near Tring, is on the Buckinghamshire / Hertfordshire border and on the bank of the Grand Union Canal, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Across the road is Startops and Marsworth Reservoirs and the reservoir car park.

This lovely area deserves to have a pub and garden that is open all day, with WiFi internet access throughout, making it great for business or pleasure. The large garden, bordering the Grand Union Canal, is clean and tidy and is perfect for watching the ducks and boats slide by on these lovely summer evenings.

This pub restaurant is known for fine food, beer, wines and its large garden and canopied decking area. Chef, Tim Garman, specialises in good food done well and keeps meals to a high standard preparing all his dishes fresh on the premises. Excelling on the grill, his steaks, whether blue or well done, are to dream about and the seafood selection is fresh and extensive. From doorstop sandwiches to slow roasted belly pork or homemade bubble and squeak to char-grilled tuna steaks we are sure you will enjoy the experience.

The menu is well balanced and caters for all. You will find something for everyone, children’s menu and special dietary needs included, alongside a good selection of wines.

Well-behaved dogs are very welcome in the downstairs bar next to the garden. Children and adults often enjoy feeding the large hungry carp and ducks while watching the boats go by.

The White Lion is still a real pub, where you’re welcome to enjoy a decent pint, a three course meal, a bar snack or just a bowl of chips. We are fortunate to have the quiet and tranquility of the countryside but at the same time we are within easy reach of airports such as Heathrow and Luton. We are also very conveniently placed for London, Oxford and The Cotswolds. Although it is preferable to have a car, we can also be reached by public transport (bus, train or boat).

PRIVATE DINING or PARTIES – There are three private dining areas - The Restaurant can seat 36, the Snug 16 and the Canal bar 30. Contact us for more details or just call in and have a look around.

MEETINGS – The Canal Bar is great for meetings and presentations, with wireless internet access and its own bar. Or use the Snug with its view of the canal. There’s the same friendly and welcoming service and a beer when you finish! WiFi access throughout.

ACCOMMODATION – There is bed & breakfast accommodation within walking distance comprising a double, twin and single rooms all with en-suite that provides a friendly and informal atmosphere for young and more senior guests alike.
