In order to achieve our aims and objectives and meet
the needs of the resident group we have created an innovative,
informal and dynamic management style. We feel that
this is the key to successful and responsive approach
to individual care. Although ultimate boundaries are
set by the staff in Spring Mount, according to our philosophy,
within these limits residents are free to express themselves.
It is important that relatives complete a Life History
of the new resident, so that we are informed of the
individuals leisure, social, cultural and spiritual
needs and preferences. We can then address these particular
needs when planning activities. Spontaneity is an essential
part of organising the residents day, we strive to mirror
normal, ordinary life rather than arranging contrived
group events which do not necessarily meet the needs
of all the residents participating.
We have forged links with local community and church
enabling our residents to have access to the community
facilities, which complete the picture of ordinary living.
Staff accompany residents on daily walks to the shops,
park, post office and for pub lunches at the 'local'.
There are frequent taxi trips into town or to the garden
centre and we have musicians who visit regularly.
Complementary therapies
Aromatherapy and Massage are freely available to all
the residents who wish to take advantage.
Pets
We have dogs and cats in the home, these provide a welcome
distraction and have enormous entertainment value for
the residents. We would discourage anyone from bringing
their own pets from home unless the owners were fully
independent in the care of them. Staff cannot take on
the responsibility of caring for resident's pets.
